As part of the company’s commitment to sustainability UNIVEG ran an Environment Week. The aim was to raise awareness and to encourage our colleagues to reuse, recycle and reduce our waste, water and energy. This was achieved by creating interactive activities along with providing information on how to save to energy.
The main attraction of the week was a ‘smoothie bike’ which was located in each of the site canteens. A blender was mounted at the front of the bike; the blender was driven by pedal power generated by the rider. So once the ingredients were added and lid applied the rider could create their own healthy fruit smoothies using sustainable power.
As well as the smoothie bike there were a variety of interactive activities that were held at both sites in Spalding; these included a quiz and a ‘design a poster’ competition that was open to all colleagues and their children.
